Nice group of pictures. It seems that the style at the time these photographs were taken, was for swimsuits to have a very high waist and no legs. I love the ones that lace on the sides.

I noticed that, too. It's not surprising that they have a high waist, since that was also true of pants and shorts of the time period, but it surprises me that they showed so much leg since that's so different from the current trend.

Styles / fashions rarely make no sense to me. It is OK to have swimsuits or shorts super low in the front and back, so much so that some pubes or ass crack will show but certainly not showing the upper thigh. Shorts should have long legs, and yet those make walking, bike riding and swimming a lot more difficult, not to mention that all that fabric stays wet for ages after swimming. Give me a regular Speedo type swim brief thank you. Oh, and for me boys look so much better with short shorts.

Agreed on all points. I have short legs, so the long, baggy shorts that have been in style since the 1990s are not flattering on me. They're also too hot to wear in the summer--short shorts are so much cooler and more comfortable, especially if they are made of a lightweight, quick-drying fabric. It's surprising that uncovering your thighs would make so much of a difference to your comfort, but it does. I'm glad that above-the-knee shorts are slowly coming back into style, although they can be hard to find and are more expensive. Sadly, at my age and weight, such shorts are no longer flattering on me.
