I noticed that little tail thingy on the boy with the black shirt on. I always had one that after every haircut it would be look like it was a normal haircut, but a week later that thing started growing before the rest of my hair even had the chance to catch up with it and before I knew it my hair looked like I had a tail (rattail). When I was 9 or 10 I got a haircut and that tail started growing so fast, 3 months later I had a serious tail thingy problem, it grew like 5 inches (13 centimeters) long when the rest of my hair was like an inch (3 centimeters) or so and I liked it. Convinced my parents into letting me keep it growing down my back every haircut. When I was 14 my tail was 21 inches (53 centimeters) long, all the way down my back. My tail was thick and actually looked like I had a pony tail. They started calling me Ponyboy.
