It's different here in the US most people here think speedos are stupid and dumb looking and will even get made fun of if you were to wear it. I don't think there is anything wrong with bord shorts or speedos but I prefer bord shorts I think they are more comfortable than a speedo.

As for wearing a shirt some people do it because of sun burning or they are really self conscious about how their body looks.

You folks reflect many of my thoughts on this area. I never quite knew what was gained (unless it was just to eliminate the skimpiness) of wearing those long, rather baggy trunks. Really, if they got any longer, people might as well wear trousers into the water! The old style should return!

Nothing worse than the paranoia about too much sun and kids showing too much. If you don't want them seen don't bring them out. A rose by any other name.... And a very cute bottom is just as nice in tight shorts style swimmers as speedos !!
