This act is often called 'Indian Feathers' in the USA but the practice pre-dates Columbus. The 'sign' is kind of just a funniness but well before photography this behind the head signing was done surreptitiously and in public as humiliation for all to see. Or in fun. It's FUNNY here even as a 'No Hate, Peace' sign. Friendly fun here.
