The lens is everything. Get the best your walet can get you. And learn to be very adept at focusing. Auto focus is great for very fast action but trust your eyes.

Hey unforgiven - thanks for your comments & advice. I really appreciate you albums over the years including the ones removed. I set the camera on autofocus but somehow it kept going in and out of focus perhaps being 'confused' by the water - or may have missed a setting or something. I noticed 'they' stopped making the camera shortly after I bought it. I've since bought an Olympus w/ 2 lenses. I know Nikon has a big name but I asked a real optics and photography expert and he agreed with my choice especially for the $.
