Neat pic. I believe for it to be a Longbow it must have the 'Longbow system' that includes the funny 'thing' on top of the rotor. Some of the other neat pics labeled Longbow don't show that. Right?

There are multiple versions of the Apache Longbow depending upon who we sold it to. The US Army has the version shown here. We have sold Apaches Longbows to our allies and some do not have the sensory array, pictured here. And why would we. Todays allies could be tomorrows foes. They are free to modifiy them to their own needs. Afterall, it's only money. Thanks for noticing the difference.

Oh,ok, thanks for explanation. I had thought Apache was the 'basic' incredible copter and 'Longbow' was the variant with that funny thing on top and some other mods. Point well taken about todays allies - has happened too many times! Yeah, Israel does allot of mods of what we send to them.

The longbow isnt called as that for its advanced radar system, but being a completely revamped version of the helo, the AH-64 D. Longbow it is probably nicked because of it's vastly expanded range of operations as well as its expanded range of attack due to more advanced missile and radar system. as you can see on the one in my album, it isnt always equipped with that advanced sensor system, not even in case of the helo being employed by the US Army. i would even go that far to say that it is equippable/unequippable depending on the kind of mission to be attended.

The MI-24 may not be the most fearsome helicopter in the air, but it holds its on when compared to compariable battle copters. I personally wouldn't want to go up against it with something less than its equal. Would you? Thanks for the post.

The Hind might not look like it, but believe me, that baby is more bada*s than you might think. almost 400 kph top speed, 600 on full stall flight, titanium amoring, 64 unguided missiles UB32 shootable in one salvo from the cylindric containers, another 4 guided 'TOW' missiles from the rails at the stub wing tips, plus about 1500 rounds 12.7 mm (.50 cal) for the fourbarreled machine cannon in the nose. Not to mention 8 fully equipped soldiers who can be transported and set/towed down quickly. I wouldnt want to have to put up with that Gunship. *g*
