Anything more than 8Mpix on a cell phone or consumer camera will give you worse results with more Mpix. The sensor can't be made bigger so the pixels have to be smaller and therefore gather less light and give you poor images.

I don't agree that the more mpix the worse the photo, but it's also not true that the more mpix the better the photo, that's pretty clear. I believe, in this case, the lack of optical image stabilization was crucial and the A51 also has very slow autofocus. The conclusion should have been: even a five years older phone can take better photos and megapixels and the number of lenses is not everything.
